A screen on a cable, or a camera on the line
A camera answers a question a sonar cannot: not « is something there » but « what is it, and is it feeding ». Two formats share the shelf. The screen-on-a-cable is the common one — the ESANHAO with a 7-inch IPS monitor at 94,29 €, the MOUNTAINONE 7-inch at 159,99 €, the Mocoli 5-inch at 70,99 €, the TMACTIME with a 4,3-inch screen at 59,99 € for 15 m of cable and 69,99 € for 30 m. The cable length is the figure that decides where it can be used: 15 m reaches the bottom of a gravel pit, 30 m does not reach a Norwegian fjord. The second format is the line-mounted camera, which records rather than shows: the WaterWolf 2.0 at 115,90 € and the Water Wolf Pro 2.0 2K at 152,90 € are clipped above a lure and watched afterwards, and the Westin Escape Cam at 169 € is the same idea as a kit. Three figures are worth comparing across both formats. Resolution, 1080p on most and « 1200TVL » on the ESANHAO — two different scales, and TVL is an analogue line count, not pixels. Field of view, 120° on the WaterWolf, 220° on the YYYuYong at 96,21 €, 45° on the Sunydog: a wide angle sees more water and shows each fish smaller. And screen brightness, « 2000 Helligkeit » on the VeftBltrem at 42,49 €, which is the only figure that decides whether the thing is usable in sunshine at all. Waterproof ratings are printed — IP65 on the Mocoli, IP68 on the VeftBltrem — and they describe the topside unit, not the camera.
